friday's letters / dear friday (link up)

Dear Friday. You're here. It's been a long but good week. And I am so very excited for the weekend.
Dear Weekend. I'm hoping for warmer weather this weekend. It's the first weekend post-surgery that I can comfortably wear blue jeans. I'll be sporting blue jeans for dinner on Saturday night and to church on Sunday. I'm also looking forward to church on Sunday, cleaning out closets and drawers to give clothes away, and cooking some more.

Dear Writing. I've neglected you some, but I've also spent more time with you over the past week. I feel like we're finally getting somewhere. I promise not to let anything come in between us again.

Dear Hair. I've been neglecting you a lot recently. There has been no sea salt spray and no defusing. I've gone two months (and counting) since getting you highlighted. It's going to be a while longer, so we're going to pretend that I'm just going for an ombre look.

Dear Future. I'm a bit anxious about you. About the unknowns and the uncertainties. And there are a lot of unknowns and uncertainties right now. But I know it will all be okay.

Dear Husband. You're my favorite. Thanks for making me laugh, for laughing at my man voice (even though it makes you uncomfortable) and for letting me watch countless episode of Private Practice.

friday's letters / dear friday (link up)

Dear Friday. Today I am officially one week post-op from knee surgery. This past week has been filled with pain pills, sleeping on the couch, icing my knee, going seven days without washing my hair, and celebrating the little successes. I feel so much better and stronger today than I did yesterday, and I am excited for next Friday when I am hopefully back at work hobbling around on my crutches.

Dear Husband. You have taken such wonderful care of me. Thank you for praying with me before surgery and quickly figuring out how best to move me on and off the couch and in and out of the car. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and the stuffed dog to cuddle at night. You have provided me with so much this past week, and I am so glad to have you as my cheerleader.
Dear Dogs. You have been so gentle this week. Thank you for sleeping at my feet and kissing my face in the morning. I am so glad that I get to spend a little more time on the couch with you now that I'm able to sit up on the couch.

Dear Mom. I loved having you here for the past week. Not only did you cook us dinner and do all of our laundry (more than week's worth for sure) but you painted four walls in our house, cleaned out kitchen, organized almost the whole house, loved on me, took me to my first post-operative appointment, and cared for our dogs while Justin was at work. You are officially SuperWoman.
Dear Dad. I can not believe you scored 126 points on our current game of Words with Friends. Seriously. I loved that when I called you last night you knew it was because of the word "jeez." You may win this game, but I'll get you the next game. At least that's the plan. I am so thankful for you - even when you beat me.

Dear Self. You have learned a lot this week. Make sure you remember it. And what should you remember? It's okay to ask for help. It's okay to need help. It's good to open yourself up to people also. This (meaning walking with crutches & the extensiveness of the knee surgery) too shall pass, and you will be even stronger once it does. Celebrate the little things - always. Have faith; God is bigger than everything. You are more loved than you ever could have thought or imagined.

friday's letters / dear friday (link up)

Dear Friday.
You are the first Friday of 2013. And I am so thankful to finally see you. It’s been an interesting, and rather rough, week, but I am hopeful for you to the start of the weekend. Here’s to hoping for a quick day at work and then a good night’s sleep. I have lots of items to mark off my To-Do List this weekend.

Dear MRI.
We will meet on Monday afternoon. I’m a bit terrified. Not of the machine or the process but of the results. I’ll find out what you show on Thursday afternoon. No matter what, I will remember that God is in control. He is bigger than anything (including injuries) and will walk me through everything.

Dear Weight Watchers.
Thank you for accepting me with open arms even though it took me so long to join. I lost two pounds on your PointsPlus system over the past week, and I am looking forward to losing even more in the coming weeks. I know you are the help I need. I am going to give you all I have. Also I love that fresh veggies and fruits have 0 points. That makes me want to eat more of the good stuff! I am currently loving blackberries, raspberries, apple slices, oranges, spinach and brussels sprouts.

Dear Bill Cosby.
I found a quote of yours on pinterest and posted it to my facebook page. It says “Decide you want it more than you are afraid of it.” Thank you. I needed those words. I often let fear be the controlling factor over what I want; I always have. But along with having more faith this year, I promise to not let fear control me.

Dear Readers.
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart for all the support. I absolutely love blogging, and I’m so glad to be committing more time to it. I am excited for 2013 and growing my blog. I love sharing my heart and my life with you all. And I love reading every single comment you all leave. I hope that 2013 brings you all the things you need (I say need because sometimes the things we want are not the things we need).

Dear Weight Loss.
This time, you are mine. I’ve got quite a bit left to lose, but I promise it will happen. There’s no escaping me now. This body is ready to be rid of all the excess weight and problems.

Today I am linking up with Ashley from The Sweet Season for Dear Friday. I hope everyone has a blessed day and enjoys their first Friday of 2013!

hello monday (week 3)

Hello, Monday. I'm sad to see you arrive. The weekend was wonderful, and while I know this week will likely be a good one, I would have preferred to continue the weekend. It's not that I don't like you or the challenges you often bring. I do. But I really love sleeping in, long walks with the dogs, cuddling on the couch, eating ice cream with friends, and shopping.

Hi, new blog layout! I am pretty much in love with you. I feel like my personality is captured, and that I truly have a place to call my own now. Thank you so much Kristin for all your hard work.  (PS: Comments have changed. I am back to using blogger instead of IntenseDebate. Please make sure to enter an email address so I can respond to them!) I have also updated the about me page and the contact page. More updates to other pages to come!

Hello, new running shoes. I'm so excited to have you on my feet since I covered my old shoes with mud and colored powder after my two color runs and one mud run. I'm glad I got to break you in today walking the dog and then using the resistance bands. I'm looking forward to many trips to the gym and miles of road covered.

Hi, husband. Thanks for grilling those delicious chicken sausages and turkey brautwursts for dinner Sunday night (with the help from your dad of course). They were delicious and nutritious. You have been so supportive over the past few weeks. I don't think I could do this whole journey without you cheering me on from the sidelines and calling me out on my crap. (PS: You need to join a gym so you can go work out with me instead of going to eat donuts while I'm exercising. PPS: Can we go row on the river soon?)

Hello, Brandy. I know Rascal is often called the favorite dog, but you will always be my favorite. You were our first dog after all, and you don't jump over the fence or crawl through a hole under the fence to investigate the neighbor's backyard. I love taking you on walks and also watching you sleep on top of three or four pillows at once.

Hi, spin class. I tackled you on Friday morning and Saturday morning. You kicked my butt, but you also made it abundantly clear that I am more than capable and can do everything the teacher asks of me. I stood on the bike for long stretches of time and kept up with the pace. Can't wait to see you again later this week!

(PS: Come join me at Life of Meg for Mingle Monday!)

hello monday (week 2)

Hello, Monday. I'm hoping you will be a great start to an even better week. Hopefully you feel the same way too. The weekend was filled with laughter, time with my husband, and lots of sleep. All the things I need in order to start the week off right.

Hi, husband. I loved seeing you all dressed up on Friday night. I just wish we had taken a picture. Guess it's just another reason to get dressed up again soon. Maybe in two weeks when we go out on a fancy double date?

Hello, work week. Let's make sure it's a good one, right? I know I have a lot to do. Maybe too much, but I'm going to do my best to fit everything in.

Hi, new house. You have electricity! And brick on part of the house! It's almost like you're ready for us to move into. And I can not wait. I'm so excited to paint your front door a bright blue, decorate you for Christmas, cooke turkey chili in your kitchen, and spend lots of time sitting in front of the fire. Can we just call you ours already?

Hello, gym. I'm really glad we are back to becoming close friends. I love spending time with you, and I have every intention of making our time together a daily occurrence. Here's to hoping I will soon feel even more comfortable lifting weights. I'm ready to buff up and trim down even more!

Hi, husband. It's me again. We're just weeks away from our new house; can you believe it? Can't wait to spend lots of nights in with you! Also can't wait to buy new furniture, a new washer and dryer, and of course a new TV. It's almost like we're real adults or something.

Also, today I am linking up with Meg for Mingle Monday. Come join us!

hello monday (week 1)

Hello, Monday. And goodbye weekend. I can't believe how quickly you arrived. To be honest, I kind of wish you would have been slower to get here. I need more than 48 hour weekends. Could we maybe try doubling the weekend time? It can be our little secret.

Hi, husband. Thank you for all your hard work. Kissing you early Saturday morning (like 4:15am early) and then heading back to bed while you headed off to work reminded me - yet again - of your servant's heart. I'm beyond blessed to have you as the leader of our family. Here's to hoping that next weekend I don't have to kiss you quickly and then bid you a good day at work.

Hello, work week. I'm always a bit anxious for you to start. And this week is no different. I know you'll be filled with to do lists, stress, chaos, and a few unexpected items. Sometimes I don't think I will survive you but I always do. Heres to hoping I kick your butt this week.

Hi, new house. I walked around you on Saturday and snapped a few more pictures of you thus far. I am really ready for you to have electrical wiring, insulation and sheet rock. I'd also love for you to have carpet. But I'm doing my best to be patient and learn all the lessons you're already teaching me. November 15th is less than a month away. Can't wait to call you all mine!

Hello, running. Because of you I think I have plantar fasciitis. It has to be the running - not the cheap but oh so adorable flats from Target, right? Right. I just want you to know I forgive you and that I will not give you up. Oh and that mile I ran in eleven and a half minutes last week was AWESOME. Can't wait to run more miles and even faster!

Hi, Taylor Swift. Your album drops today. I am SO FREAKING EXCITED. I think you and I could be best friends in real life. Seriously. So call me.. maybe?

Hello, husband (again). Thanks again for loving me. And pursuing me. Can you believe everything happening in our lives? Unbelievable. I'm glad you are so calm when I am so.. not calm. You always help me to find my way back. I love you for that.

Hi, Jesus. What lessons do you have for me to learn this week? I'm open to hear what you have to say, and I am going to make my way through the week with palms up ala Bob Goff. Thank you for always sticking by me, always pursuing me, and giving me strength when I don't feel like I have any. I need you more than anything.
PS: Come mingle at Meg's blog!
